(Ministry Of Sound/EBLOK)

...

The next birthday of famous Ministry of Sound. We can say
16 years passed as one day. This is without doubts cult organization, associating the best DJs, producers and remixers in the World. That is why its worth saying in short about Ministry of Sound beginnings, how
it looked like before it grew up to be called potentate on a club music market.
First of all, it is one of the most famous London clubs. For the first time door to Ministry opened in September 1991. Unique atmosphere and surprising attractions for guests established a very good reputation
and a good brand. That allowed creating a record label with the same name.
First publication appeared as a DJ set in 1993. Tony Humphries was its author. At the moment Ministry of Sound is publishing a dozen or so compilation per year, maxi CDs and vinyls of artists connected with the label. It is also a radio station and an internet TV.
Presented in this info 3 discs publication "Anthems 1991-2008" is
a kind of summary of their 16 years achievements in dance music. You can find there 63 cult records, that are still meeting with an applause from clubbers.
The first disc is reminding us dance music leaders from the beginnings
of 90ties. Mostly artists who reigned on a club lists not only in Europe but also in USA.
For sure in that part it could not run out of New York vocalist Robin S (Robin Stone) in her first hit "Show Me Love"(1993); Italian trio of
Alex Party (Paolo, Gianni Visnadi brothers and DJ Alex Natale); Scottish studio project Nightcrawlers (DJ Jon Reed) and their hit "Push The Feeling On"(1993); M People with the charismatic vocalist Heather
Small.
They launched dozen or so hits, among the others "One Night In Heaven"(1994). You can find also techno- house scene producer from Chicago- Felix (Felix Stallings Jr.), known today as Felix Da Housecat.
His "Don't You Want Me"(1992) is an obligatory position in every DJs box. The same as British- Australian duet Strike with vocalist Victoria Newton. "U Sure Do"(1994) composition its an absolute classic
of house music scene.
Very important point on a club map till today is Wink (Joshua Winkelman).
American DJ, producer and remixer in "Higher State Of Consciousness"(1995) sounds amazingly.
The next CD that belongs to "Anthems 1991-2008" compilation
contains records from the 2nd half of 90ties. This is the time when among others popularity gained: Armand Van Helden with "You Don't Know Me"(1999); Kenny "Dope" pres. The Bucketheads - "The Bomb"(1995) known from Masters At Work duet; Chicane (Nick Bracegirdle) -"Saltwater"(1999).
Most artists in that part represent European club market. After mentioned above Chicane, we should remind as well a success of vocalist Grace (Dominique Atkins). She came out with the single "Not Over Yet"(1995) to came back after 4 years with new remixes of this record done together with Planet Perfecto. About Faithless output
(Rollo Armstrong, Alayah Bentovim, Maxwell Frazer) was already
written a lot.
On a presented compilation we can hear one of their most important record "God Is A DJ"(1998). From Netherlands there is Ferry Corsten known as System F. Germany is represented by ATB (Andre Tanneberger) in their music showpiece from 1999 - "9PM(Till I Come)" and duet Storm (Rolf Ellmer and Markus Loeffel) in "Time To Burn"
(2000). Finland was praised by Darude (Ville Virtanen) in "Sandstorm"(2000).
The last CD is the next portion of classic, modern club music. You will
be accompanied by: French duet Daft Punk, representatives of "French touch"; Paul Johnson in sensational "Get Get Down", fabulous project
of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe, that is Basement Jaxx - "Red Alert"; Jakatta is an other personification of Dave Lee known as well as Joey Negro.
Obligatorily on a track list you will find Bob Sinclair with "Love Generation", Eric Prydz -"Call On Me", or one of the hits from the end
of 2006 and beginnings of 2007 - Fedde Le Grand - "Put Your Hands
Up For Detroit".
It is just a part of what you will find on "Anthems 1991-2008"
